what would be the absolute cheapest design to make a 3d printer? could there be a build on this?

Dear Roy,
I'm a mentor for a high school robotics team and as part of our off-season learning projects we are also building a MendelMax 1.5.
Yesterday we got most of the electronics installed and ran a test print in the "air". We have not installed the print bed yet so we just moved the z zero up a few inches and let it run. Worked fine, amazingly enough, but I shouldn't have been suprized, my kids are pretty smart.
In anycase, we'd love to chat with you about your experiences (since as you, ours is widely sourced and home built) about your experiences. It would be great to understand your print platform and which up-grades (since it seems 10 come out a day) you are pursueing.
If you're interested, I can be reached at:

Hey justMaD
Thanks for the explanations about your products. I will have to follow your guys progress on 5D-print as the video looks promising. I will also have to drop support an email when i get a chance.
Nate
hey nate can u help me with that
Hey Billy
I sure can help you. What exactly do you need help with?
Nate
On the MakiBox A6, what's the difference between the LT and HT?
Also, would the Ramen fit on the LT box?
It looks as though the difference between the LT and HT is that the LT has a lower power supply(60W) which intern allows you to only print with pla where as the HT has a larger supply(120W) and can print with pla, abs, more. The HT also has a stainless print bed unlike the LT that is acrylic. Im not sure about the Ramen but i think that its its own machine that does not attach to the printer. I could be wrong maybe justMaD can clarify this better.
Nate
Well, the difference is actually $100, it just shows the wholesale price for the HT currently (which we should fix soon).
Other than that Nate was right, the HT has a heated bed and a more powerful powersupply to accommodate for that, whereas the LT has no heated bed.
The development of the Ramen Extruder has been currently paused to finish up the MakiBox itself.
At one point the plan was to integrate it into the MB, but as far as I know, it will be a separate device now.
hey justmad do u guys need tester i ben trying to get in to the 3d printing
Get in line xD already asked hehe
