Build Idea: Book Scanner

You should build a fully automated book scanner that is able to scan books of all different sizes, and put them into a big PDF file, so books can be converted into e-books easily.

Here's an idea- not really a scanner though. http://blog.makezine.com/2010/07/19/the-bookliberator-an-open-hardware/

I second the idea of a book scanner Or some other kind of scanner such as a 3D scanner, robotic room scanner, self controlled snake cam etc.

I'd like to see something compact that can fit on a desktop, easily moveable, tent-top like this Tamtus device that isn't available in the US.

I think a 3d Scanner would be amazing especially if you could directly put that through to a 3d Printer

I saw one at CES, but it was like the inverse of that link

You lay a book open, and a camera points down to scan.
