USB powered gameboy

Hello i'm trying to power a Gameboy Advance with a USB cord. This should be pretty simple for you guys I haven't done much electronics work besides building my own game controllers.

The gameboy advance runs off of 2 AA batteries and I happen to have an AC adapter and the plug lists the DC voltage as 3.3V but my multimeter says 3.7V.

I want to know what the most reliable way to do this on a budget.

Just get a 3.3V regulator and put it between the USB and the GB connector.

So whats the advantage of using the DC-DC converter or buck converter compared to the regulator ?

from what I know there isn't that much difference, although the DC to DC converters appear to be able to handle a higher current draw.
