Way back in 2007, Ben wrote in Engadget about an AV switch box using 74CBT3244 analogue bus switches.
I had a need to toggle between up to 12 SCART RGB inputs, so I took Ben's design and built this monstrosity, using an Atmega328 to select an input:

So thank you, Ben! Without your nifty bus switch idea, I'd have probably ended up with a complex relay-based design. :)
