How can I drive an LCD screen without the additional Hardware?

I have an old PDA that has been bricked years ago, something died inside, but I would love to re-use the LCD screen from it.

I would like to attach it to the front of a pair of single lensed welding goggles to make an impromptu video head set.

The problem is, how do I drive the LCD screen witohut functioning PDA hardware? Is it at all possible?

As a general rule, an LCD is only useful for the item it came with. If you buy a new LCD module, it will be a more "open" standard and you'll be able to access it. People have also pinned out ancient stuff…

Probably not. Your best bet is to see if someone else has already done this with your PDA or with the LCD inside your PDA (if you can find model numbers). Usually these things have proprietary screens and or control chips so you never end up knowing how they are driven/what pins are what.
