Ben,
Have never written before. This morning I saw an episode of Tekzilla #441 Build a $30 DIY Backup w/ Raspberry Pi and Sync.
Got to thinking about building a Pi Safe.
Build it to fit inside an existing PC using a 5.25 or 3.5 drive slot.
Use a 5.25 to 3.5 or 3.5 to 2.5 hd tray to build it on - hard drive, Pi and bonus points for a fan. Possibly from the old ones from a few years back that had a blank face plate. Get power from an exisitng sata or four pin molex hd/floppy connecter. One power cable for entire tray, fan, Pi and hard drive. Have the Pi network and possibly the USB cable go out the back of the PC on a slot plate.
More thoughts on build.
- mount these on the blank face plate
-- a switch (small rocker) to power Pi, drive and fan
-- a power LED
--- nice to have would be HD & network activity LEDS
No bright LED's though!
This could also be done inside an external 5.25/CD drive holder and possibly inside a 3.5 external HD holder.
Just my thoughts.
Enjoy your show and please continue.
Thanks
