Wifi broadcasting Chip?

Crash1hd
Crash1hd over 12 years ago

Hello All,

I am very new (and I do mean new) to the modding community, I have an idea for something but I really dont know where to start.  The biggest challenge is the following.

Does anyone know of a chip  (I not even sure if this is possible) that broadcast / pulses a unique signal?

Thanks in advance

Adam

I don't really know what you are asking. What is the end goal?

The problem here is that for say a phone or tablet to pick it up you would be using either WIFI or Bluetooth since these are already included with the phone. A more power efficient solution for this simplistic app would be a small 433MHZ transmitter module and a small low power controller to squark out the unique code but you would then need to make a reciever for the whole thing which is more involved.

Probably the simplist way of doing this would be  a Bluetooth module and acontroller to send the ID then pair with it and the phone.

The BT modules are around the £3++ range depending on where you get them from and the exact spec,

Personally I would go for my solution above if you are doing more than one or two devices ...would make acool project !

Basically a low-jack that you phone/tablet can trace...

Bluetooth and 433MHZ transmitter wouldn't be able to trace it's location world wide...

I'm not sure because he has not stated what is application is but since he mentioned WIFI I would say that the application is well with in the 100M range often quoted for WIFI lets be honest a 10M distance is more likely 433MHz parts would be very good for that.

Also you may want a combonation of methods because if it can be sensed too far away it would be difficut to locate as you got closer and it just deafened your reciever?!

I agree with you on using wireless transmitters. But he asks for world wide tracking.
