Need USB help

Hello all,

I'm trying to use a USB hub in combination with a NES to USB converter and memory card to make a Mini-Nintendo for my brother. I hacked the power switch out of a broke nintendo and am trying to wire the switch with a LED into the 5v line in the USB, but when I test it I either get a good solid LED light or intermittent recognition of the HUB. Any suggestions?

if the hub isnt powered it is probably drawing too much power, causing problems with the Pi. it doesnt put a high amperage signal to the usb because it doesnt get enough power to do so. it may also be…

This isn't a Pi based project, but your comment got me thinking about the power structure. After meta-googling a bit I added a 1k resistor to the led and put that on a hub port (I originally had a 68ohm in series with the led and switch on the 5v power line), I then added a a 10uF 25v cap between the power line and ground, and success!
