Viewer Build Challenge Idea: RF Module Xbox 360

I was thinking it would be neat to use my old original red ring Xbox 360's RF module to hookup a 360 controller to the PC via USB. Also if possible to be able to sync additional/different controllers as well as have the 4 ring lights light up with what controller or all controllers that are attached. After all that is done maybe a cool 3D printed/CNC case for aesthetic purposes.

Thanks, James

Excellent.. Thank you, thats a very good tutorial for the first part. Is there a way to get the lights and sync features to work on the module as well?

    thanks again. image

Oh that's cool. I heard it was a USB device, but never realized it was that easy to use!

    Cool hack!

Since Colecago's response I've been doing a little research on the lighting. It appears some have been able to get the "power button" to be used as a sync button and the lights to do the startup sequence upon being plugged in.

Spanish translated site for light controller:

I even found a Raspberry Pi combination project:

    http://www.astrorats.org/blog/2013/07/29/xbox-360-rf-module-and-the-raspberry-pi/

I'm new to electronics but have always had a passion for constructing cool projects. By watching The Ben Heck Show I have had more ambition and confidence to attempt more complex builds. In your opinion would adding the light portion of this project be easy to do for a novice like myself?

    Thank you.

I just stumbled upon this video of what seems to be duplicating the module?

    Thoughts anyone?

    Thanks.
