BUILD IDEA

huggy
huggy over 11 years ago

Just having stumbled upon Ben and his genius, I would like to throw this idea out for some mulling over.

I very much enjoyed your how to,  on the xbox automatic game changer.  Now can this same idea be used to create a " library/jukebox " for computer disks.

The problem:  I have a lot of computer disks

The issue:      Finding the one I want, easily

Solution:        Convert/interface my Pioneer PD-F906 100 disk  to my computer, With a searchable TOC/DIR, based upon the slot location in the player.

i.e. If I want to load a train cd magazine into the computer I would look into the programs database/DIR/TOC under TRAIN magazines select a magazine name, find it,autoload, or make "that" disk available

for computer action/use.    I look at this as being a computerized viewable "jukebox library" of the disks stored with-in.   This would save time of going through each, 1 by 1 until I find what I was looking for. This would also make desk area alot more organized.

                                                                                          Thanx,

                                                                                                     " HUGGY "

I've seen people hack those Pioneer units to make them computer searchable. They even make versions, well, made, that were designed for that specific use.

Personally I just rip my CD's into ISO's and then use Virtual CloneDrive to mount them as I want. You can hold a lot of CD/DVD images on a 1-TB drive. Then put the CD/DVD's away in storage for safe keeping. http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

I remember sometime ago, tiger direct, offered a disc storage unit, but you had to remember what tray the subject matter was in, then maually remove it from the tray and place into your computer.  I just thought it would be neat to have all of this self contained.  ( I would like to see some of those hacks, if they are available, or any for this unit )
