Challenge: digital Jukebox machine based on PC with a touch screen.

Dear Ben,

I am wondering if you had an idea to build a digital Jukebox machine based on PC with a touch screen?

I want to build such a Jukebox, having the following requirements:

1. To use a Linux - Ubuntu/Debian based software (if possible), running MP3 files (or audio CD files) stored on the hard drive.

2. To have a 15 or 17'' touch screen (if possible).

3. To use coins or Tokens for allowing you to change the tracks.

4. Not necessary to have inbuilt Amplifier and speakers ( although will be cool ! ), just line output from the sound card is fine!

I am really interested to see how you can do it!

It shouldn't be so complicated for you giving the large number of projects that you have done.

It must look similar to this one:

All the best,

Trifon

Ben did make a jukebox back in the AMD computer build episodes.  He put it into a gas pump and put a decent sound system in it.  It wasn't touch screen but you could choose songs using your phone I believe.

    Dear Colecago,

That sounds great, however I can't find this episode.... I would appreciate a little assistance (link to the episode).

That might not have been on the show - it was a project I was doing on the side.

    Dear Ben,

Would you accept the challenge and show us how we can build a digital Jukebox machine?

For example Jukebox masked as gas pump is extremely cool and unique idea for a Rock bar.

I am looking forward seeing working one!

Perhaps, you can also make it with a touch screen?

All the best in the new 2014!

    Trifon
