table ready usb battery charger

Can you hack together a mobile phone charger battery and a one of those devices that lights up (and buzzes) when your table is ready?

The other day, I was waiting for my wife to meet me at a restaurant and my cell phone died. So I was watching the hostess hand out the buzzers and thought, I could really go for one of those if it had a usb/cell phone charger battery attachment. Why not charge my phone while waiting? Not necessarily fully just somewhat while I wait.

I am thinking a bigger battery and a few usb ports added to the "buzzer", right? You know the ones that light up and buzz after you put your name in with the hostess. Besides, the hostess is always placing the devices in the charger/cubby so the batteries should be readily available. also, the restaurant could totally tie in a promotion like a drink, an appetizer and a "free" charge for $9.99.

I've not heard of such a device before. If you do work for a company and they decide to patent it, this could be a record that you came up with the idea. I'm no expert in patents, just letting you know that it may be worth considering if it won't cost you any money.

Just wondering if it is possible. Lawyers have a tendency to inhale rapidly.

It could be something like this: http://cpc.farnell.com/mili/hb-t12-black/charger-power-visa-black/dp/BT05859

but with a non-standard connector for the base station charging.

I can see it being useful when one is out at restaurants/bars etc.

It could even supply the menu to your phone or allow you to place your order while you wait from your mobile phone, bypassing any logging in etc., since it can associate the order to the specific device.
