Here is the idea.... I have a PSP fat 1001 with a broken screen and missing battery pack. As far as I know the unit works and can still play the UMD. I know I could just replace the screen but I find that lately I'd rather play games on the big screen instead of the 4.3 screen. I am unsure if the charging cable would be ok to run the unit for extended periods of time... or should a permanent power solution also be implemented? Also, I am curious how you would port out the current LCD connectors to either HDMI or Composite video... the older model is incompatible with the later released cable. Next, how would you go about removing the on board controls and setting it up to recognize a USB controller... preferably a wired X-Box 360 or PS 2/3 controller. Lastly, while modding is there a way to hook up a hard drive for increased storage capacity?
TL;DR: Strip a PSP fat model down... leaving the UMD intact to play games and movies... porting out the power supply, controls and audio/video... possibly adding a hard drive for storage.
