People sensor build idea (Playschool)

Hi Ben,

We have a unique problem, My wife runs a ECD playschool centre, she has assistant teachers and around 20 children. With the various classes they each have to be at certain areas at certain times. Children love to wonder off.

Would it be possible to build a sensor/s with a raspberry or alternative that could be placed in each classroom that could sense how many people where in a room at any time, then output to an e map of the building to a screen. This would help you to always know where the different classes where at any giving time, also making sure that all students are out the class when need be, this could also be vital for catching the little rascals that decide to hide.

This could also have practical safety sense in an emergency.

Thanks, looking forward to your feedback.

It is an intresting build. Over here(India), you walk into shops with such things(like CCTV cams, etc) than they are willing to install cams as per your request. For such builds I would suggest one with audio to take care of fights. Also, you mentioned 'E-map' in the request. What you could do is write/install(if available) a program and have it outline the building (like architectural designs) and have class name written on it and as the mouse hovers upon that particular class/coridor, it displays what the camera is seeing (if one is present) and have an other software which downloads everything on to a CD/storage device. Hope it makes senseimage
