Laser cutter attachment for 3D printer

Hello,

I've been looking into adding a laser cutter to my workshop, and after some research I'm not really coming up with a pre built solution that fits into my budget. Is it possible to attach a laser cutting diode to a 3D printer, using its existing power source and software, to turn it into a multi purpose tool?

you may require a seperate power supply for the laser diode (depending on how powerful you get) but many people have already turned their 3D printers into CNC mills and laser cutters.

now if you really want to give Ben a challenge, so if he can develope an auto-change system that will allow a Rep-Rap printer to be an auto multi machine (3D printer/CNC mill/Laser cutter)

If you're are using it as a laser/3d printer, then there is one advice, please don't. You have to use speacial enclosure to protect you from the laser and many other factors. The specified item was not found.
