Home made DVR

I am planning on cutting cable TV and i would like to build a DVR feature for my future antenna system.  but i want it to be a self contained unit with the programming put on a chip and the recording to go to an SD card up to say 32 GB that should be plenty.  looking to bypass hard drives and if a SD card goes bad it is easily replaced.  also maybe dual channel or more recording.  of course it would need to have its own tuners built in so it can pickup both analog and digital signals.  mainly i am wondering is this possible?  would a Rpi or a riot board or a beagle bone be capable devices to control this kind of item.  maybe Ben heck could build it in one of his shows?  its time for the public to have access to DVR without a service charge.  The over the air DVR.

Easily doable, however 32Gb is no where near enough space. So let me outline what I did

I used an mini-ITX motherboard and case

    A hauppauge video capture board

    4gig of ram

4Tb of hard drive space (I started with 2Tb but the wife and daughter had that full in under 3 weeks)

    Installed MythTv

You may note that a Raspberry Pi with OpenElec will connect to a MythTV system and allow streaming and control from the XBMC interface.

This allowed a central DVR which was controlled by and streamed to any TV in the house. We use Android pads and/or our Android cell phones as remotes using xbmc remote So no more looking for a remote, you just grab a pad or your phone.
