3d printer extruder

My 3d printer extruder keeps jittering back and forth without any load on it. I've switched motors and drivers, re installed the firmware (sprinter). ramps 1.4 electronics.

    Just a few questions for you.  Has the printer always done this or is this the first time its been used?  Have you turned the pots on the stepper driver yet, both up and down and see what happens?  What micro-steps are you using?  Have you tried a different firmware like Marlin or repetier?  It almost seems like either a firmware issue or ramps issue since its not specific to a motor or driver assuming you havent tried to change the pots yet.
