Found these cool compact hdmi connectors

In the wake of the new Xbox One Portable episode I remembered that I recently found these neat hdmi connectors on ebay
Micro HDMI to HDMI Soft Flat Signal Cable GH4 GOPRO3 A6000 Z15 Z1400 25cm E | eBay

Unfortunately they end in a micro hdmi connector but if you buy two of these you should be able to just switch them out and have a normal hdmi cable.
Would be great to buy these connectors alone without the (most of the time) useless micro hdmi connector. Maybe Farnell could source and sell them *hint hint*.
Would make a lot of RPi project more compact aswell.

Those are basically no different than the ones on any HDMI cable. If they were less than a dollar, they might work, but a cheap HDMI cable can be had locally usually for about $4.00 less online. It might save 5 minutes of slicing, but the same. CLICK HERE FOR CHEAP CABLE.

No these have a flat ribbon connector. You can just use a flat ribbon cable of any length and plug it into the hdmi connector. They are great because you can make yourself super short cables without soldering and also have a flat end without splicing fat cable which is actually quite a bit of work.

The actual HDMI connectors are the same as sold anywhere, it is just that the supplier has soldered on small adapter boards with a flat-flex connector on them too. In other words, it is a whole assembly, not just a HDMI connector part. Probably there is not a huge market for them though, the ebay seller has sold 10 it seems. Usually for short connections, HDMI would not be used, and LCD panels would be directly connected to boards with a flat connector (it's just the hobbyist market that may want the short HDMI leads).

It is possible to do the same thing by creating a small breakout PCB and soldering on the connectors; not easy though! So I can see why there is a desire to purchase it pre-built.
