Beginning electronics

Hi, My name is Hugh McInnis, and I am beginning to get into the world of electronics. I am a highschool student, and I find it hard to find classes to take that have to do with electronics. I was wondering what advice I can get to learn the most amount of electronics I can with my limited resources. Any advice will help. Thanks!

that since it looks like it will evolve over time as John and others will contribute to it.
I'd agree with jw0752 that books are one of the best ways forward, they are cheap used (and often free if you can borrow some from a library).
