Arduino CDMA access question

Question

I want to set up an arduino board to monitor outputs from equipment at a remote site. I would like the arduino to send SMS reports to my handset back in the office. I have access to many types of used cdma phones and data cards. How would I go about direct wiring the arduino into a CDMA phone.

FYI, I am aware of GSM/sim card shields/modules but that is not what I am looking for.

It seems that you need a certain type of phone that allows you to communicate with it via a serial connection in the mini stereo jack. Fortunately these phones are pretty cheap and probably easy to find on Ebay.
