I am very far form being able to pull something like this off myself so i thought perhaps Ben could pull this build off. I race my car on road courses. the problme is that with all that is going on inside a car at high speeds in traffic you can't look down at the instrumnets like the tach, speedo, and dummy lights to be sure there are no problems. there are a number of cars that come with HUDs that are able to project vital things like speed and rpms onto the windshield of the car for the driver to view.
My challenge is this, can Ben or anyone else create a device that can be placed onto the dash of a car during race conditions (this menas it has to be very, very stable and secure to avoid comning loose during high-g corners) that is able to project things onto the windshield for the driver to view. i would love to see something that can interface with the vehicles OBD port wirelessly to show the RPM and speed on the windshield. I would also like to see the device be able to track lap times simply by placing a start stop marker at a specific point and be able to track fastest lap and current lap. If the device coudl interface with an iPhone or Andorid device or use accelerometers to record things like g-forces from corners and acceleration/braking and other parameters that woudl be perfect as well. the ability to overlay that data over video woudl be icing on the cake. What do you think, is this possible?
