Right spot?

I'm not sure if this is the right spot but I have a challenge for ben. My cousin is in the hospital dying of cancer. He has family that continues to visit and 24/7 hospital care. He is unable to talk and has to write everything. Could you help me think of a way to make it simple for him to talk to his family?

The best option is to use a computer and type everything. You could try to find a program similar to what Steven Hawking uses to comunicate. Since he doesn't have the use of hs hands the program allows him to easily select words from menus. But that only gets him about 15 words a minute. Its not as fast as typing it out on a computer. If the act of typing then waiting for people to read what is writen is a problem there are all sorts fo text to speach programs out there and he can choose what kind of voice he wants to have speaking for him.

I've seen where people have writen down some standard phrases on post-its to make things easier. But full conversations would still have to be writen or typed.

Combining the computer with some sort of predictive text software might help make the communication faster. Perhaps an Android tablet and keyboard would fit the bill. (Or iOS combo)

If he is willing, learning to use a Stenotype keyboard could make for rapid communication.
