Stormchasing Laptop to help predict faster and accurate

In my line of voluntering for my community, a friend of mine and myself help report bad weather in our community and around other counties where storms occure.  We like to have our own chase vehicle, but funding for it is to high and gas can be outragously expensive and insurance if the vehicle gets damaged or totalled.  In other words we chase with our own car.  This is our question and challenge to Ben and to anyone else out ther with this kinda knowlege of this cryteria.  We are looking for a Labtop that can funtion with good wifi internet recieption and has enough power to act as it were the Doppler Radar you would see on the weather studios and news casting and to have a GPS navigation to the smallestest street names.  I'm Nick Mikoleski and im a volunteer with Skywarn, helping save and undertand our weather from scientific community

The image below is an example of what my laptop is and lookes like.

Don't really understand what you are getting at here, are these the main points of your system?

Good Wifi reception - There is no way to guarantee an open wifi access point as you travel, it doesn't really matter how good of an antennae you have, you should probably use some cell phone data network

Doppler Radar - are you talking you actually want to have weather radar on your car?  Or some type of way to interface with the doppler they have available online?

Accurate GPS - depends on what GPS you are using and what mapping software you have

    Nick,

Welcome to element14. Your project sounds interesting and worthwhile.

Tell us more about the equipment you use. Like Colecago said, how does the doppler system you use work.

As for a the laptop you use, I would recommend a military or industrial grade system. IE: Toughbook, Amrel miltary laptops, etc
