BASIC POCKET COMPUTER - Why did you do it the hard way?

Ben,

I loved your show but you did it the hard way!

An unmodified Chatpad has a 19200 serial interface which pumps out keypress and depress events.

All you needed to do is connect the keyboard directly to the Arduino with a pencil plug socket and use simple keyboard driver that converts the chatpad keyboard events into ASCII code for the BASIC.

Cheers!

Very Compact

Do you mean to pack out his video clip out to 15 minutes?

There is no accurate video timing required for the LCD module.

The LCD interface used is bit bashed.

no i mean he probably did it to fill out his time requirements for the episode because with rev3 they have a time block space they have to use for length and they have to have it within those parameters. rev3 has strange ways of presenting their videos length wise

I did it that way because I didn't realize the stock chatpad would have worked just fine.

    But now I know!
