One Handed Xbox Controller Revisit

Ben,

First time writting you, but I have been following your episodes closely with great interest. I posted a challenge to youtube and to the general public for ideas on how to mod a controller to allow for my disability. You see back in 2009, I lost my left hand, and my love for playing action games has not ceased, however my abilities have been greatly affected. So, I have searched and searched for ideas and low and behold...I found your videos. The one about modding a controller for a similiar disability was awesome, however not ever disability is the same. I have the use of my left thumb and entire right hand. So d-pad and analog stick are easily controlled, but the left bumper pad is a HUGE challenge. So I know WHAT I need but not how to do it. I designed a simple mod, where I took the left trigger and left bumper and put them on some sort of momentary switch controlled by my right pinky as the area where the left pinky falls is a huge open area. It would most likely mean losing my rumble/vibration feature but it only drains batteries anyways. So, HELP! Being one handed, it makes working on electronics pretty hard. Can you help? Can I even pay for you for this mod? I want my gaming abilities back!

if you take apart the controller you will see the trigger switch is connected and soldered in 3 places.(look on youtube for "Ben Heck one handed xbox 360 controller" for help too). You have to desolder this and remove the trigger. The lowest of the 3 soldered pins is a ground. The middle is the right trigger.I am not sure what the top is or how to connect it but drill and install a switch like a rapid fire button and solder a wire to connect the two.Try it and see if it works before soldering by crossing over the bottom and middle to see if it activates the trigger.I am currently trying to figure out how to wire and modify a controller for one hand and need help with the wiring.Good luck and I hope this helps
