I'm working on being married 20 years and I need new ways to impress my bride :-) and so I'm wondering if there are any 'open source' solutions with guidance with remote sensors.
I'm looking for help to unlock the best avenue for some home automation ideas... I don't want to JUST turn the lights off remotely or turn on my engine block heater at 4 AM - those are already available built-in functions to those $10 UNI-TASKERS…
I want to do stuff like...
+ Turn my engine block heater on 3 hours before I go somewhere in my truck - and only when the outside temperature is below 20 F degrees
+ I want to remotely turn off all lights - after I leave the house (you know… in a rush)
+ I want to dim the lights in a room for best viewing of movies
…oh, did I mention I DON'T want to pay a 'bazillion' bucks? (I'm not afraid to program or do some hardware-hacking) but I need to do it on a shoestring budget and if possible take advantage of existing tech...
