3D Glasses for someone with one eye

I have been told before that this not possible, but if you switched up the image twice as many times in one would this work?

 

I was stabbed at 17 years of age back then the only 3D stuff was in universal Studios and I was addicted so jealous of you guys with 2 eyes.

    From Wikipedia

    Depth perception arises from a variety of depth cues. These are typically classified into binocular cues that are based on the receipt of sensory information in three dimensions from both eyes and monocularcues that can be represented in just two dimensions and observed with just one eye.[2][3] Binocular cues include stereopsis, eye convergence, disparity, and yielding depth from binocular vision through exploitation of parallax. Monocular cues include size: distant objects subtend smaller visual angles than near objects, grain, size, and Parallax.[4]

     

    Your brain takes the two different images from your eyes and gives the impression of depth and distance.  Just switching those images up on one eye would do nothing but make something look really blurry I would think.  You'd have to hack an image into the lost eye for the brain to compensate on.

     

    You could do something with eye tracking to give the indication of 3D by changing the image as you move around, but I think that is about it.

    Colecago is right that this is not possible.  A typical 3d stereoscopic system like an active shutter system works by having mirror images of each other offset by a certain distance on the screen.  If the distance is farther apart the more depth you get well at least to a point.  The glasses then will alternate turning the left eye on then the right.  The glasses are flickering at such high speed that our brain can't process what's really being shown to us so it looks 3d.  One of my current tasks at work is to study the relationship between the distance from eye to eye and the distance beteween the images.  We have found that matching your eyes distance to the distance between images give the user a better 3d image but this is not always the case based on other factors.
