How to build a water cooling loop for an existing laptop ?

Hi,

I'd like to get some info on how to build a water cooling loop for an existing HP DV6 laptop. It's difficult to play games for long periods of time without a sufficient cooling pad and a low room temperature. Living in the middle east makes this impossible to make this portable.

So what I'm asking is for a portable solution, so I can take it to LAN parties and use it for everyday use as well.....

Hope I can get some amazing tips. Also hope Ben can help me out in this project.

    Hi Hisham,

Can’t say I’ve tried it myself however I’ve seen a few successful projects posted in the forums on a number of computer enthusiast websites (Overclockers.com and Overclockers Australia to name a few).   All of the projects involved fabricating your own parts and modification of existing equipment to get everything to fit.

There was a neat project on overclockers Australia a few years ago where someone machined his own waterblocks in the same shape as the original heat sinks so that the air cooling still worked.  The radiator, reservoir, and pump were in an external enclosure with quick disconnect hoses to the laptop (so that he could connect and disconnect the water cooling unit).   I’ll have to keep digging to see if I can find his work log again.  Below are some links to some projects.
