Super Headset

I love over-ear headphones (for numerous reasons), but hate wires. I bought a pair of wireless headphones in the past that came with an FM radio and sd mp3 player, but being that I paid only $15 for them, the plastic joints broke pretty easy. I had an idea for a while to wire a bluetooth ear piece to something similar, but still keep the detatchable auxillary cable and make it sturdy enough to turn it into one super headset. The concept is there just not the know how... is it possible or would it be too bulky?

You could just add a mono headphone jack to the speaker, however this could cause a problem if you have it plugged in and are playing through bluetooth as they would both play unless you used the switch from the headphone jack to disable the standard cord for the ear piece, and the ear piece is probably only transmiting a mono signal. to put in in headphones you're better off using one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Britelink-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Transmitter-Streaming/dp/B005HMT7QY and attaching it to the top of the headphones.

Streaming form a smartphone would definitely be the easiest option.

    Is that an acceptable option?

True, it would be quite a hassle... even with a fourth switch you'd need room for both the earpiece and the power supply, not to mention how tough it would be to extend the buttons on the earpiece. So even if I built the shell from scratch, mapping everything out would be a lot of work. If I do the 2 jacks on the other hand, I'd only need one switch, correct? I could take out the mp3 player and radio and stream from a bluetooth device like Atwell suggested, I'd probably have enough room to fit everything in.

Some jacks contain a switch on the inside that shows when something is plugged in. this is how devices such as ipods can detect when headphones are plugged in. Of course if the bluetooth headset had stereo output you could just wire in a jack like this but put the wires from the speaker to 3 and 4 and wire 2 and 5 to differnet speakers. if you want the left and right to be correct make sure 5 goes to the same one as 4 did and 2 goes to the same one 3 did.  then hook ground up to both speakers and the jack. this would allow you to input music and switch. make sure you get a switching jack though.
