Nes project headache

I'm having an issue with a Nes project I'm currently building. The controller doesn't respond in certain games image. Now I can load and play Mario 3 and some others without an issue but Mario 1 and Graduis won't respnd to any control input. I've checked all of my connections and solder points and they're all fine and I've also tested these games on my other console and they work perfectly so you can see where the headache is coming from!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't given us much to go on here!

What exactly is this Nintendo Entertainment System project?

Did you build the NES? or the controller? How are they conncted? How does it differ to a 'real' NES?

Is the controller cable significantly longer in your project? Does it use a different type of cable?

Sorry about that. It's a custom case with a relocation of the 72 pin connector and yes the original controller port cables have been extended using an IDE cable using the factory connectors to the board. I tested the extended port wiring before but didn't have any issue at all. Other than moving the 72 pin connector and the controller port extensions everything else is stock.
