Reading Files from usb flash drive and display its content of LCD.

How can we read files from usb flash drive, select the file we want to show, and then show that particular file's content on a LCD? Which controller is suitable for this project and how can we do this?

If you'd like to use a microcontroller and go for a USB device instead of SD card I would suggest to NOT do Arduino or 8051, but some device with USB support built-in. The mbed board I mentioned has software…

What kind of LCD do you have in mind?

Use a Raspberry Pi with a screen
Get an mbed LPC1768 and an application board, that already has a 2-line LCD and a USB host port.

i am planing to use 16x2 LCD display and 8051 microcontroller or arduino board.

The mbed board I mentioned has software and hardware support for a USB file system, and several libraries for LCD display.

You can buy the Application board and mbed at several sources, also Farnell. The designs are open, so you can choose to cut a lot of the cost later on if you're tranisitioning to something further than a prototype

I was just wondering if it would be possible to get this board bit more cheaper.
The $60 mark is way too much.
Also I need to get around 1GB of flash memory.
