What price range? Does build volume matter that much to you?
I am in the same boat as you and the PrintrBot Simple interests me but 6in x 6in x 6in build volume seems somewhat limiting to me but I am also looking sub $750.
I did see the XYZ Printing's Da Vinci printer. It uses a filament cartridge instead of using your own, which i'm very disappointed about but the build volume is fantastic for the $499 price tag.
The filament cartridges cost about double what using your own filament would cost. However there is someone by the name of Oliver if I remember correctly that has hacked/modded the chip inside the cartridge so you can mod it and run your own filaments through.
Its a very small EEPROM that lets the printer know its empty or has ran through the amount of plastic in the cartridge. I could see this being annoying but I feel its probably the best bang for your buck if your willing to do some modding yourself to it.
-EDIT-
Link to the Da Vinci 3d printer - http://www.amazon.com/XYZprinting-Da-Vinci-1-0-Printer/dp/B00H7VEU0G/ (7.8" x 7.8" x 7.8" build volume, uses proprietary cartridges much like the inkjet printer market, known mod/hack out for the cartridges to use your own filaments)
Link to the PrintrBot 3d printer - http://printrbot.com/shop/simple-black-assembled/ (6" x 6" x 6" build volume, no issue with proprietary cartridges you just feed your filament in, you can also get a DIY kit to assemble your self to save a little money as it is cheaper)
Both seem to have great resolutions and end product from what I have seen.
To end my comments I am new to 3d printing and do no own either of these so I can not compare and if my assessments are off someone please correct me. More input greatly appreciated because id love to know more options for myself than these two I have been drawn to so far.
with price range i mean under 1000 dollars
and a big enough building volume
but i have seen a more expensive 3d printer chek it out it is an ultimaker
the two is too expensive but maybe the original is good here is a link
ps the original is cheaper when you assemble it by yourself but if you dont nkow how to assemble it buy the pre-assembled kit but is it worth the monney i dont know
sorry for any typing fault
