Hi, I am collecting the parts to put together a car pc in my 2013 Landrover Freelander (D2 in the US) I have an MSI Wind Box DC111 which is a great little unit and will fit in the glove box and a £38 ebay 7" touch screen for which I managed to find the drivers for windows 8. I am restricted to a 7" screen as that is the size of the original factor unit and I don't want to cut up the dash. Whilst this setup works on the desktop, the icons are a bit small for a porky finger like mine and I need another way to control it.
My thoughts are to make something similar to BMW's I-Drive controller that would slot in to the centre console cup holder and be USB compatible. It would move like a joystick but also have a ring that would rotate to mimic the scroll wheel on a mouse, also the two mice buttons would be replicated on it.
I have a 3d printer and a lathe etc but any help in getting started would be appreciated, or how about a build on the show.
Regards
Andy
