Help with a repstrap

Hi all,

I need some help with the firmware for my Repstrap, firstly I am using a ramps 4.1 on an Arduino Mega 2560 with Polulu drivers and I am using the Sprinter Firmware( newest Version). The stepper motors are salvaged form old Epson printers --> EM-257. the main problem I am having is that the motors will move in the negative (toward home) direction, but will not move in the positive (away form home). I have tested the steppers on an Arduino before I used them and they worked fine. any help would be great.

have you tried retesting them on the arduino to see if maybe something went wrong

HI,

thanks for replying, I tried that and it worked on the Arduino but not with my ramps. I am at a loss.

Sounds like a problem with your end-stops.

When they are turned on in the firmware, which they are by default, but installed wrong, or not installed at all, the printer thinks it is at the end of the run, so it allows you to move in one direction, away from the end, but not the other because it assumes you are already as far as you can go in that direction.

It is a common mistake.

Not sure those recycled motors will have enough torque to run the printer reliably but that is a whole different discussion.
