Hi Kallum, The motors that are used for cooling in computers are not designed to handle the power necessary to allow them to lift themselves. You would burn them out with too much voltage before they would produce lift. They are also designed without attention to their weight. You will need a DC motor capable of handling sufficient power with a propeller designed to produce lift. The raspberry if programmed properly certainly could control the flight. As far as components from computer circuit boards being useful well the best course of action would be to get a design for your copter and then see if there are any parts on your computer boards that will fill the component needs.

    Hi Kallum,

John is right. You will need special propellers, motors and controller in order to build a quad. I propose you to start with a almost ready to fly kit or follow a tutorial like this one http://blog.oscarliang.net/diy-mini-quadcopter/

    Thanks,

You will require motors, esc's battery(with charger) and I recommend a multirotor board to a RPi.
