I'm building a laser driver for a dvd laser burner. I needs 200-250 mA and 1.8-2.2V.
Is it the right setup? Is the trimpot setup correct? The multimetre shows6.43V and the trimpot doesn't seem to change anything.

Hi Guys, Pins on pots, resistors, and capacitors are usually not numbered. This may be creating some confusion as to whether you are talking about the pot or the LM317. If you use the schematic from the data sheet you will have to tie the center of the pot to one side and ground it and run the other side of the pot to the #1 pin of the LM317 which is the adjust. If you pick one way to connect the center of the pot to the end you will increase resistance as you turn counter clock wise and if you connect the center to the other side of the pot instead you will increase resistance as you turn clock wise.
