Recently I've gotten a hold of a computer power supply that I would like to convert into a bench top power supply. One issue that I've run into however, is that some of the electrolytic capacitors inside the power supply have popped. I should be able to desolder the four bad capacitors and replace them fairly easily. My question is, considering the visible damage to the unit I'm wondering if there could be further damage to the power supply that is not visible to the naked eye. Would it be possible to test the unit and guarantee that the only parts that need to be replaced are the capacitors before I replace them, or should I just consider finding a new power supply?
