So there are these DIY 35mm adpaters that are all the rage. These adapters allow them to use lenses from 35mm SLR/DSLR cameras on their camcorders. A quick internet search for "35mm DOF adapter" will bring up plenty of video examples. Here's one.

The problem is that when using this adapter the image on the view finder is flipped. There are hacks for getting the image to flip, but they only work on some cameras and they pretty much void the warranty. Other methods involve using mirrors but this doesn't completely fix the problem.
Here's my challenge. Figure out a way to use the video out on the camcorder and hook it up to an external monitor. This external monitor can be mounted upside down to help with framing shots and focusing. A few things to consider.
- Portability (small form factor would be good. about 4" min and 7" max.)
- Self-powered (some sort of battery pack or lithium battery)
- Something around 800x600 resolution would be good. It'd be cool to use something like an old iPhone screen, maybe some sort of digital picture frame, an old lcd from a netbook....?
- Preferably use HDMI input, but component would be ok as well. S-Video and composite would be a last resort.
- Under $200
Is this possible? Any thoughts.
Thanks.
