My 2 year old loves to watch muppets sing on youtube.
I have a bunch of old hardware laying around including an old laptop which ran windows xp (poorly). Its screen doesnt work anymore.
So my build idea is this:
Since we all have old laptops sitting in a closet my idea is to take it and make it usefull.
Hardwarewise mod it, remove the motherboard and make a custome case maybe with vesa mounts. It can be used as a media player so you can watch movies on your tv. In my case i thought mounting it on the back of some old monitor so my kid can watch videos.
Softwarewise this would be a great project for Felix to show us how to install/ use linux for stuff. Since these old machines' hardware is going to be very low end for todays standards it will be a great opportunity to show linux shine where windows cant anymore. Maybe show us how to set it up as a media player or, in my case, how to make it child friendly and child safe! Or even educational!
