I'm making a cheap usb teletype!!!

Hi.

I'm making a usb, rs232, uart, spi teletype (more or less) that can read and punch 1' tapes.

It's using a lead edge so you can use even normal paper or one of those for recites, but i found a company that makes punch tapes.

If you'd be interested to buy kit, or make this on your own write in response.

I need to know if people would like this if i should prepare this for production or not.

I last used an ASR 33 teletype back in 1978.

I still remember the clankity clank as the paper tape read in at 10 characters per second.

My program required thirty minutes to load, and it invariably took two or three times to get it all uploaded.

So I admire your determination, but some old technology should just be allowed to go away.

the reading is done via optocouple, and if i get it right i should get up to 20 000 characters per second. image

and the whole thing should be as big as a pocket repair kit for punchtapes.

I want to do this since i have so many projects that this can be used with, and it's just so awesome image
