Not sure how viable this idea is, but I was thinking in work the other day, trying to drown out the awful music the store plays, when I started to wonder someting about why old lightgun games wont work with modern TVs.
I know that the big reason is that CRT and modern panels update the screen in an entirely different way, CRT drawing pixel by pixel left to right line by line, and panels update the whole screen in one go [which is what can cause screen tearing in games].
But what if you added a second panel infront of the one showing the picture, which shows an entirely black field except for one pixel that is totally clear and recreating the raster effect, allowing the screen with the picture to be seen one pixel at a time, left to right, line by line. Would this essentially recreate the CRT style of displaying an image, and allow lightgun games to work again?
Any thoughts ?
