I recently picked up a broken Sony HD TV for scrap. In the process of tearing it apart i realized that it was perfect as a base to build a light box for my art studio. It uses ccfl lamps for the backlight, and I was considering using them for the lighting. Would it be better/brighter to use LED strips? How would I test to see if the lamps are still working? How would I apply power to all of the lamps without using the inverter board? End game is to build a frame with rubber feet so it looks nicer, add a switch and power cable.
