Low budget E-ink Word processor

Hello everybody,

I'm new on this site, so I'm not sure I picked the right section. I came here after watching the Ben Heck Show and realizing that those guys and their amazing community were my only hope. I've been desperately looking for a way to buy/easily build a portable Word processor with an E-ink screen and a decent (maybe mechanical) keyboard, so it could be handy, have a long battery life and help me carry on with my real passion wich is writing. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a satisfying DIY solution, there are no recent and esaustive tutorials (I know very little about electronics) and the only product they did produce is absolutely overpriced. I thougt about getting an alphasmart, but the problem is i'm Italian and I need an italian keyboard with letters you won't find on an US one, and there's apparently no way to customize It.

That's It, as usual please forgive a foreigner broken english. If you could help me, maybe even by playing with this idea on the B.H.Show, that would be like having Christmas in August. If you can't, I still thank you for reading this.

    Would using an e-ink tablet with a bluetooth keyboard not fulfill your needs? Do you want them physically connected? In the same case or all one unit? How do you want to be able to access your written documents, synced to a cloud, or on an SD card perhaps? There are plenty of ways to hack such a thing into existence, but with little electronics knowledge, it would take a lot of research as well as trial and error to end up with a functioning unit. It definitely can be done. It comes down to what you want the final product to look like and be capable of and how much work you want to put into it.
