What is the resistor ohm/voltage value (there is only one inside to make it far easier) inside the Sega - Genesis model 1 console AC/DC Power Supply Unit ( model # 1602-1) ?

I have to replace the 3300 uF/16 volt electrolytic capacitor & the resistor inside my Sega - Genesis model 1 consoles AC/DC Power Supply Unit model # 1602-1 because the voltage is at 13.93 volts instead of 10 volts like it should be. I couldn't find the ohm / voltage value code for the resistor by looking up the color code online & don't know why, unless I am just having one of those days. Can someone lend a hand & help me out with this? I provided a picture to help find out what it is exactly but the picture didn't come out to clear with the provided lighting in the room. The identifying color bands on the resistor are Gold, Brown, Green, & Purple. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. "Genesis does what Nintendon't"

    Hi Dan,

    I do not think the voltage difference is a problem. This is an unregulated voltage supply and as such it should show a higher voltage so that a regulator down the line has some room to regulated down to a regulated voltage. If you lower it you will interfere with the proper operation. Is the unit working at this time at the 13.9 volts?

    Ok, that makes sense why I couldn't figure out what values of the resistor looking up color codes for it. Thank you for the help.

    I didn't realize that the AC/DC power supply was unregulated, but now once I think about there are two voltage regulators right after the power connector port inside the Genesis console. The voltage when I tested it on 2/10/2018 read 13.93 volts DC. I just thought it was a little high compared to the 10 volt / 1.2 amp rating on the output rating. Being the AC/DC power supply is 20+ years old now it couldn't hurt to re-do the capacitor & resistor to refresh it back proper tolerances being it shouldn't cost no more than a couple of dollars. Thanks for the help.

    So it is a 750ohm with a 5% tolerance, do you think a 5 watt version would be suitable for a replacement?

    Difficult to tell without a measurement for some sort of scale but it looks a lot smaller than that. Probably closer to 0.5watt
