Ben Heck show going downhill

retroguy112233

I used to look forward to new episodes of the Ben heck show but lately there's been nothing even remotely interesting to me. I am sick and tired of the glue gun and pseudo sergeant and the pinball machine. To me it was exciting to watch you work on the Nintendo PlayStation or tear apart a switch or upgrade it but lately all of these videos are just extremely boring to me.

I figured I would share my feedback and hopes of more entertaining videos.

I've not watched all that you refer to above just yet, but can say that the 'sudo sergeant' could be interesting to those who want to get up to speed with using and deploying computer systems - a typical traditional course on Linux admin costs several thousand $, and jobs pay extremely well for such experts. Teenagers could go on to getting decent work (full time or expensive contracts : ) based on that information..

Virtually every computer system (by that I mean desktops/laptops, but also mobile phones, equipment in server rooms in headquarters of every business, TVs, Blu-Ray players, even some wrist-watches) deployed today has it's underlying technology as described in those videos.

(Just mentioning this in case some context like this helps make it more interesting, or provides ideas for what may interest you in future).

    Hey Ben, and Crew,

I'm currently working on a project and could use a show highlighting my details. I'm putting a Hp200lx  inside a 60% keyboard (thats the easy part). I'm also hooking a pixel qi screen to it. . . Via an FPGA. The circuits should all fit nicelly in the key board, however attaching the external screen might be interesting. Also, could you give some details on the serial to vga logic please? I will be using a pcmcia to cf adapter to sdhc also. And possibly address adding some additional I/O ports?

    Thank you!

    Damon

As a non-gamer, I find the new direction of the Ben Heck Show very useful.

Even when Ben and company did gaming devices, I still learned useful tips about reverse engineering, optional builds and information about how some of these devices work.

So I for one have been very happy with TBHS.

It's always going to be different strokes for different folks, I find some episodes more interesting than others - I watch what I want, what interests.

If it was ONLY what I, you, or any other individual liked then it would appeal to a rather narrow group.

    Keep it diverse and I'll keep checking back . . . .

If you've followed for a couple of years, you've probably gained some mojo since you were first drawn to Ben Heck and it has simply lessened the show's mystique.

So is the life cycle of one's hobbies and interests.

The episodes are still inspiring to those who presently need them the most.  For us old timers to the show, it's fun to see what they're up to.

    See ya',

    Sean

There are still upcoming episodes devoted to gaming and new things to keep the video content diverse.

Gaming is understandably something a lot of people appreciate but the show has always used gaming as a platform to learn more about electronic projects.

As the show has evolved,  its understandable that the new direction won't appeal to everyone.

With that being said we hope you give the show a second look.  Lots of interesting things planned...

At the end of the day what makes the show interesting is the personalities and the content.

Content and storyline are always moving no matter what program you're tuned into.

I quite liked the recent idea of having The Ben Heck Show participate in the Design Challenges.
