Been having a weird issue with my PSP. It won't turn on without being plugged in, despite having a battery installed in it. I remember in the past that I had on repeated occasions accidentally left the thing on charging for a long time. I'm not sure if this is affecting the battery or the plug. However I go to plug it in the orange light appears for the power station indicating that it's supposed to be charging. When I turn the system on it says it's charging, however it never seems to charge. If I unplug it while it's been charging for a while the system automatically just shuts off. Also there will be times where it will be connected to the charging plug, and we'll say that it's just operating off of the battery. However it will not operate with just the battery in portable mode. It must be plugged in with the Charger and ordered turn on. The charger seems to be a little bit fickle as well. Unless it is plugged in tightly or moves around a little bit the thing will shut off and not operate. Sometimes I have to hold the PSP in a certain position for the plug to be fully registered as in. Sometimes I have to push it in hard for the thing to stay in at all. My question mainly is what's the problem here? Could it be just I need a new battery for it? Or do I need to have the socket replaced for the plug? Or could it be a combination of the two? Does anybody have the skill in repairing one of these things? As I do not currently possess any sort of electrical engineering skills. I would be most grateful if somebody would be willing to help me with this. I would like it to be able to get back to the point where I can use it as a portable handheld without having to have it be on the charger all the time.
