Vending machine tutorial idea.

RedNapalm
RedNapalm over 3 years ago

Generally would like a build video on vending machines for both your own custom machine or as a automatic e-commerce order fufilment dispenser for small buisnesses.

This could probably just cover one item dispenser for the tutorial but have the feature to then be able to scale it up as much as needed. A full tutorial would obviously be way too long and complex so just the easy bits to cover the dispensing process, scaling for more items, inventory count tracking and covering for any issues would do.

Generally would need to consider:

  • Setting the item space with the details around the item such as: ID, time stored, which item space also has the same item.
  • Sensing how many items have been placed in item space.
  • Check if item has been dispensed or is stuck

Thanks!

I like the idea, although the space and size may make for an eventful shoot! Not to mention the seeming cost, even of used ones!

An interesting idea! I think existing equipment in the field would be much more simple that you are expecting. I wouldn't be surprised if most didn't have stock sensors beyond a binary "yes" and "no…

I could think of a small machine for 1-2 items that lets you pick up the item you have ordered/paid on your phone. So like scan a qr code, select item and pay for it online-> then the item gets dipensed…

Funnily enough in my fusion 360 files I have a half done coffee pod vending machine I was working on, as I managed to successfully model my own version of a candy dispenser similar to this https://www…

    An interesting idea!

I think existing equipment in the field would be much more simple that you are expecting. I wouldn't be surprised if most didn't have stock sensors beyond a binary "yes" and "no", and thinking about the spiral style food and drink type, I'b bet thety don't have any at all. As the customer can see the stock, they assume that the customer wouldn't try an purchase from an empty cell?

Also, I can vouch from experiance that there is very commonly no "dispense not complete" or "Stock Stuck", I guess a lot have people have had that bad moment of a snack getting stuck...

But, building an vending machine / dispensor that boxes and prints a label for shipping actually sonds like a cool and useful project. Especially if it can handle stock control and automatic reordering of low stock!

So like scan a qr code, select item and pay for it online-> then the  item gets dipensed. Or put in a pickup code for prepaid orders.
