Katie got herself a limited edition Arduino Uno Mini Gold board, and she started thinking about her options for using it. Stick it on a shelf, keep it safe in a box, put it inside a project where it can’t be seen, or ..... make a feature of it, and build it into a piece of wearable electronics! She decides on the last option, working on a tech-y necklace featuring NeoPixels and more.

You could perhaps try fitting it with a wristband and wear it as a corsage. Perfect for getting noticed at that prom... Optionally get those LED pixels synchronised to the music or the heartbeat...

Nice use of an UNO showpiece.

I definitely have clear boxes full of dev kits, in fact I have more than one box for Arduino, more than one for Raspberry Pi, more than one for TI and many more for other manufacturers....

Oh wow, that's amazing, thanks for sending the link.
Will add some of that sheet to my shopping/wish list to give it a try, it looks incredible!

Perhaps something to try if you want to add some sparkle to the back of the pendant necklace just in case it flips over whilst wearing.

Yes, would need a transparent display for that. A compromise would be to display an image of the uno mini on the display instead  Slight smile ( or even the inside of your forearm for Halloween Nauseated face)

D.J. did a video showcasing some of the round displays recently:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJBDXjI5Zu4

There was also this video of the 1.28" round display with a few different images on it and connecting it to an Arduino ESP32:

mood, temperate and heart rate are all super ideas. I might try them all out, especially temperature, that would be an easy one to play with.

I love the the round lcd idea, although hides the uno mini, but would make an awesome follow on project. and a colour sensor would be a cool addition, adjust depending on your outfit etc

The corsage format could open up lots of possibilities. It would offer a larger surface than a smart watch but smaller than that of a wearable computer. It also crosses the boundaries between decorative and functional.

You could perhaps sneak in one of these round 1.28" LCD GC9A01 displays which could be both used in conjunction with the LED pixels for visual art or toggle to a variety of watch type displays for functional.

Great build Katie, though I think it is more of a pendant than a necklace. Just word semantics.

You could have the light represent your current mood, temperature or heart rate. Lots of possibilities.

    Well done.

Perhaps could add a colour sensor to automatically restrict the displayed colour ranges to avoid a colour faux pas ?

Agreed. Mainly use the 9L ones here with some 3L and 1.6L for the smaller stuff.
