When the original Game Boy came out there were no smartphones and WiFi didn't exist, so wired multiplayer gaming was perfectly acceptable. But what if it were possible to add wireless capability to this classic handheld? Join us as we build what may be the world's first Game Boy wireless adapter. We'll also see how console games were programmed 30 years ago... in assembly language!

I am not a gamer, but I can appreciate your build as a good demo of wireless communication. I have done many thousands of lines of assembler code in my day and I found it quite simple to do, even with…

I really like it, and Iḿ still stunned after days how you manage to wrap your head around Assembly. I wish I was that smart. I stick with arduino and python for the time beeing.

That would of been nice to have the blocks test as well. I’m not much of a coder my skills are in hardware.

Sorry, I've looked for this and I don't think I have it. At one point my hard drive died and I also bought a new PC, and I don't see it anywhere in my backups. If it's there, it's really buried.

Bah! I wanted the code for the first test you did with just the blocks! It looks like only the Reversi game is in the github? If you still have it, could you upload it?

Okay, now I feel like I need to hunker down and learn assembly! I'm really digging this!

And the Reversi game?!? TOO MUCH!!! imageimageimage

Thanks, Clem! Assembly looks confusing at first, but there aren't many instructions for old CPUs. I have no doubt that you're smart enough. Assembly is great for learning low-level concepts, but for large projects it's a bit like mowing the lawn with a pair of scissors.

Yeah, assembler isn't so much hard as it is tedious for certain things. But there is a certain satisfaction in writing such low-level code.
