The new 2019 Mac pro looks like a cheese grater, no doubt. Earlier this year, a Maker exposed the fact that its design did not allow it to be effective for grating cheese, much to the disappointment of Clem! So he took it upon himself to build the world's first Mac Pro that actually grates cheese, and does it with power! The build started out with a Power Mac G5, the first iconic Mac to get dubbed a cheese grater! Clem develops his own motor control development Kit over the course of the project and puts it to use in the iGrater /Cheese pro /Mac‘n`cheese..

Maybe not jokes to projects but how about proverbs to projects ?

Not sure how well some of these will translate to other languages, but some that spring to mind to get the creative juices flowing:

Next, build a kitchen tong/spatula that with a press of a button spins the bacon 180 degrees saving you wrist from hyperextension.

Oh there are some good ones in there! I hope people get the jokes.. it seems that puns or jokes in general are cognitive challenging to the majority of consumers.

"what you don't know won't hurt you" - some sort of sensory depriving device a bit like Zaphod Beeblebrox's sunglasses from Douglas Adams'  'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'

"Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses have been specially designed to help people develop a relaxed attitude to danger. At the first hint of trouble, they turn totally black and thus prevent you from seeing anything that might alarm you."

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-u9lnhx_Hk

On the flip side there is also:

"what you can't see can hurt you" - some sort of wearable device that detects hidden dangers such as air quality monitoring although that perhaps has already been covered by the Safe and Sound design challenge.

Maybe not jokes to projects but how about proverbs to projects ?

Not sure how well some of these will translate to other languages, but some that spring to mind to get the creative juices flowing:

    • 'A picture is worth a thousand words' - some sort of generative art display (Processing language?)  made from a wordlist comprising of 1,000 words.

    • 'A watched pot never boils' - hob control system which detects and prevents a pot from boiling over.

    • 'One man's trash is another man's treasure' - upcycling / recycling type project.

    • 'The pen is mightier than the sword' - a project that takes a simple everyday object that does something more interesting with it. Ideally it would be a pen but that may be a little too small to work with, however it could also be used as some sort of lever or actuator that starts or is used in a process.

    • 'Actions speak louder than words' - some sort of actuator project driven from a microphone or recorded audio narration. ( Neil Mendoza: Robotic Voice Activated Kicking Machine https://vimeo.com/177486245  )

    • 'A penny saved is a penny earned' - some sort of a piggy bank or a donation box.

    • 'If you snooze you loose' - some sort of reaction timer.

Could also play around a little with the words in the original proverb.
